Did Jesus Turn Water into Wine or Grape Juice?

Did Jesus Turn Water into Wine or Grape Juice?
Jesus turned water into wine and here is why.

John Chapter 2  King James Version1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
  1. The Church is also referred to as Woman in scripture.  Jesus was not talking to Mary or out of respect for her, he would have said Mother. Verse 12 refers to Mary as his mother.
  2. My time has not yet come. is a confusing statement if you then go on to preform a miracle. Christ was referring to his death and Resurrection and then sanctify of the saints in heaven was and is yet to take place.
  3.  The water jars used were ritual cleaning for the Jews when they came into the house. The fact that Jesus used these cleansing jars, shows us the law it self will not change you. We must have faith.
  4. Mary said, "Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it." Faith
  5. Water  in scripture also is a symbol of people. People who were dirty. water in ancient times was often not drank because of contamination, so they drank wine.
  6. Wine is purifier antiseptic, healer, sweet and will last if not for ever a very long time. Although yeast is was starts the process of alcoholic wine, by the time the wine has fermented and been processed there is no longer a yeast germ in the wine.
  7. Grape juice is not an antiseptic or healer, has the yeast in it still, and will go bad in one to two days.
  8. Christ will transforms us from dirty water to good wine when we have accept faith in Him.
  9.  Then the taken to the governor of the party and he exclaims to the bridegroom here is another symblogy bridegroom in scripture does refer to Christ. The governor I can only guess is the Father, who exclaims  "Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now."   Every man who is fallen to self and sinfulness will only get worse and worse as the party of life goes on never better. But Christ the bridegroom has kept us the good wine until now! He has shown the Father that He has transformed us dirty water people with His blood and with His Spirit.
This is with out a doubt Jesus turned water into good wine. This was not just  a cool miracle. He was telling the world He would transform us from dirty water that stank to sweet and eternal wine, through His death and only through faith are we saved.

If you only see this story in the Bible as an excuse or a way to drink and be excessive about alcohol consumption then you have missed the enter point and your eyes will not be open to the truth.

If you only see Jesus turning water into grape juice then you are still living by works and not by faith, trying to cleanse your self with dirty water, and you will soon go bad just as grape juice does.

I want to thank my friend Elizabeth for sharing with me several years ago, that Jesus did not turn water into grape juice but into wine. She may not have realized I've been pondering that thought for  a long time. :)  And to my Husband  Teddy who is a wonderful to have to share and learn deeper of the Love of Christ. :)Thanks.
